Inmanstories runs land excavation for homeowners and general contractors across Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the surrounding Kootenai County jurisdictions. Grading, site preparation, foundation digs, utility trenching, land clearing, and drainage all come from one licensed, insured crew, and every job is built around the same rule: locate first, protect the cut, prove the compaction, then move on.

That order is what sets a compliant contractor apart from a machine for hire. Before we break ground we file an 811 locate through Idaho’s Dig Line, which gets two business days to mark buried gas, power, water, and fiber. On any trench 5 feet deep or greater, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P requires a protective system, so we bring a trench box, shoring, or a benched cut sized to the soil. A competent person inspects the excavation every morning.

How We Work

• 811 on every dig. No cut starts until Dig Line has marked the utilities, no exceptions.
• Trench protection sized to the soil. We classify the ground and pick the shield, shoring, or bench the standard calls for.
• Compaction we can prove. Structural fill is placed in lifts and tested to 95 percent maximum dry density by Proctor.
• Erosion control up front. Silt fence and SWPPP measures go in before the first cut near the Spokane River watershed.
